Alan J. Popa
Alan J. Popa has maintained a full-service
accounting practice in the South Hills of
Pittsburgh for over 10 years. A substantial portion of the firm's
practice is devoted to credit unions:
annual Opinion and Supervisory Committee audits, fraud audits, ACH audits,
business management consultation, internal audit outsourcing, and asset
liability management consulting. Alan spent 3 years as a Staff Auditor
with the Pennsylvania Credit Union League where he independently conducted
hundreds of annual audits for state and federal chartered credit
unions. In addition to
performing audit work, Alan developed an expertise in credit union
management and regularly
reviewed credit union policies and procedures to ensure compliance with
the myriad of federal and
state regulations. Alan has been invited numerous times to present
lectures for the Department of
Banking, as well as the Pennsylvania Credit Union League. Popa & Associates, P.C. has also hosted
several credit union seminars on various credit union topics throughout
Western Pennsylvania.
In 1992, Alan became the first Internal
Auditor for Prestige Bank, FSB, a financial
institution with four branches in Pittsburgh. Alan designed, implemented,
and maintained the
Bank's Internal Audit Department.
Alan and his staff provide individual and
business tax preparation services, financial and
estate planning counseling, and business consulting for a broad variety of
clients. Alan is a 1988
graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree in accounting
and economics. He earned his certified public accountant license in 1992,
and in addition, to better
serve his clients, Alan also obtained his registered investment advisor,
general securities and
insurance licenses and has been assisting pre-retirees and retirees in
protecting and increasing their
assets.
Alan resides in the Pittsburgh's South
Hills area with his wife and their three children.
